Shakil’s family has been printing traditional batik in Mundra for five generations. Shakil learned batik when he was seventeen. Understanding the importance of design, he took the KRV course. Despite demands for production batik, he managed to explore new markets as an artist in his own right.

During the 2020 pandemic, Shakil found an opportunity to realize a long-held dream. In lockdown, he launched Neel Batik, his own natural dye brand.
